Tesis Manoa - Trade in Early Historic Period Kedah

Sejarah Kedah mendapat liputan kajian oleh bukan sahaja dalam negara malah telah di kaji juga oleh pengkaji Manoa, Hawaii. Sebuah tesis "Trade, transportation and tributaries: exchange, agriculture and settlement distributionin early-historic period Kedah" ditulis oleh Jane Allen pada 1988. Tesis tersebut tebal 845 m/surat. Kajian Jane melibatkan teknik ujian radio karbon bagi lapisan tanah sekitar period 610-1020 dan tinggalan  tradeware sekitar period 1200-1250. Kajian Jane turut mendapat dokongan dan bantuan dari Prof Tunku Shamsul Bahrin, Jabatan Geografi UM dan Juga Shahrom Yub Pengarah Museum Negara.
