Very well-written with the undergraduate student in mind. Students through the 90s sent Ritzer emails complimenting him on the book. Even more timely than ever, the new edition will take into account globalization issues post 9/11.

McDonaldization - The Reader is a great companion book with the articles on the McDonaldization idea that Ritzer first came up with in the idea.

- - why people continue to enjoy fast food ?
- - why it continues to taste good ?
Shaw appears to be a fast food consumer. He believes that fast food is fairly harmless and satisfies many simple human cravings.
