Berbagai kajian mengenai Salafi telah dilakukan oleh berbagai institusi di berbagai negara. Salah satunya adalah tesis bertajuk "The evolution of the Salafiyya in the Twentieth Century through the life and thought of Taqi Al-Din Al-Halali". Tesis oleh Henri Lauziere, Georgetown Uni tahun 2008.

Akademia George Saliba (b.1939)
Seorang lagi akademia sejarah yang terkenal adalah George Saliba. Lahir pada 1939 berketurunan Lebanese-America. Beliau banyak menulis sejarah keagungan Islam dalam Sains di zaman silam. Antara yang banyak beliau tulis adalah sejarah dalam bidang astronomi. Saliba memperolehi phd dalam Islamic Science dari U of California, Berkeley.

Pengkaji Sejarah Negara Arab PM Holt
Ramai juga para sarjana Barat yang memfokus kajian mereka kepada sejarah Islam. Antara yang terkenal adalah Peter Malcolm Holt kelahiran Lancashire. Beliau mula belajar sejarah di Oxford sekitar 1937-1940. Setelah tamat pengajian beliau bekerka sebagai guru di Sudan. Kemudiannya beliau bertugas mengajar di Universiti Khartoum pada 1952-1955. Pada 1956 beliau kembali ke UK dan mengajar di SOAS bersama Profesor Bernard Lewis sebagai ketua beliau. Pada 1960 beliau bertugas sebagai Reader dan menjadi Profesor pada 1964. Pada 1969 beliau memperolehi DLitt dari Oxford. Beliau mengambil tugas profesor sejarah di SOAS selepas Bernard Lewis bersara pada 1975.
Holt menguasai bahasa Arab semasa berkhidmat di Sudan. Beliau juga banyak membuat kajian sejarah Sudan dan pada 1960 menghasilkan buku tentang History of Sudan. Berikutnya beliau menulis pula buku Egypt and the Fertile Crescent, 1516-1922 dan buku tersebut diterbit pada 1966.
Satu lagi sumbangan besar Holt ialah sebagai Editor dalam menghasilkan Cambridge History of Islam yang diterbit dalam beberapa volume pada awal 1970-an.

Akademia Nadia Maria El-Cheikh
Nadia merupakan ahli sejarawan yang banyak menulis tentang sejarah Islam. Antara artikel beliau adalah tentang Abbasid dan Byzantine. Beliau dilantik sebagai Dekan, Faculty of Arts and Science, AUB pada 2016 (

She was Visiting Scholar at the University of California, Los Angeles in 2003 and 2004 and at Harvard University in 1998. In 2007 she was the Shawwaf Visiting Professor of Arabic and Islamic
Studies at the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations at
Harvard University.

This paper analyzes the ways in which Mourning rituals served as markers
in the articulation of religious identities and the evolving conceptions
of Islam in its early centuries. The excessiveness of the pre-Islamic
female lamenters would be contrasted to the controlled, quietist
attitude, which the women of the new faith were to follow upon the death
of their loved ones. One of the paper’s main conclusions is that
women’s roles in death rituals were critical in providing new normative
guidelines, which were to be contrasted with pre-Islamic practices; and
that their personality and participation in death rituals during this
pivotal era served as markers for religious and ideological shifts
constitutive of the period.

Akademia Sejarawan Philip Hitti (1886-1978)
Seorang lagi sejarawan terkenal Barat adalah Philip K Hitti. Beliau berbangsa Arab dari keluarga Kristian asal dari Lebanon. Hitti terkenal dengan buku beliau "The History of Arab".
Hitti lahir di Beirut, Lebanon. Mendapat pendidikan awal di AUB lulus pada 1908 dan kemudiannya memperolehi phd dari Columbia University pada 1915.
Pandangan Hitti mengenai isu Palestine:
In 1944 befor US House committee, Hitti gave testimony in support of the view that there was no historical justification for a Jewish homeland in Palestine. His testimony was reprinted in the Princeton Herald. In response, Albert Einstein and his friend and colleague Erich Kahler jointly replied in the same newspaper with their counter-arguments. Hitti then published a response and Einstein and Kahler concluded the debate in the Princeton Herald with their second response.
